At Weetabix we want to ensure that our employees work in a supportive environment that enables them to progress in their careers – and we know this starts with the induction process. We wanted our induction process to reflect our values and show that we’re actively investing in them from day one. As part of the HR team, Becky ensures that all new starters are set up to attend. Our 90-day induction programme offers all new starters the opportunity to learn about the company; reflect on their previous experiences and how they can bring these to Weetabix, as well as embedding themselves into the company.
What’s your role?
Currently, I am a Business Partner in the HR Service Delivery Team, within the HR function at Weetabix. My role is to ensure that I service the business with all HR related queries. These can range from ‘I am a new starter, where do I go for my induction?’ to ‘Can you give me a bit more information about the pension scheme?’
I try to be flexible in my style to allow for such a variety of questions and I always ensure I have a friendly approach with a smile. I am thrilled to be starting my new position of HR Business Partner for Finance and IT… with a continued smile!
How long have you been at Weetabix?
I have worked at Weetabix for 3 years and I’ve honestly enjoyed every moment. When I saw a role advertised at such an iconic brand, I just knew I wanted to be a part of the Weetabix team.
What’s it like to work at Weetabix?
Weetabix constantly evolves, the best characteristic of the culture here is that the business is always listening to the needs of its employees and the company as a whole, responding to continuously improve. This could be on employee benefits packages, or process and systems to make work more effective.
What do you most enjoy about working at Weetabix?
The thing I enjoy the most about working here is the empowerment the business gives its people, it really makes this a great place to work professionally. And not forgetting the people make it a brilliant place personally too.
What opportunities have you had whilst at Weetabix?
Weetabix has provided me with exposure to different things in my role, which have encouraged me to grow and learn – it’s something that money cannot buy! No door has ever been closed on me from a project perspective, which has enabled me to eventually lead business initiatives of my own.
The infrastructure of Weetabix certainly allows you to develop, the mentoring and coaching support from fellow employees supplements this from a behavioural perspective too.
Anything you’d like to share with us about your role?
That I will never be fazed by a bizarre question...ever again! In the HRSD role you definitely get accustomed to questions you’re not expecting! The one thing this has shown and reminded me is that nothing can be achieved alone, you need the help and support of every single person at Weetabix to make the business the success it is.
What do you love doing outside of work?
In my spare time I like to split my time between my favourite things, family, friends and keeping fit. My family have shaped who I am and continue to do so, my friends keep up my sense of fun and keeping fit provides a challenge!
