Weetabix Food Group is delighted to announce its official support for two fantastic charities – FareShare UK and GroceryAid.
At the home of the nation’s favourite cereal brand, we’ve been long term supporters of both charities. In fact, we’ve been supporters of GroceryAid for over 15 years and we were recently awarded the GroceryAid Gold Achievement Award for the seventh consecutive year.
We like to do the responsible thing at Weetabix, even when no one’s looking, but as we step up our support of these worthwhile causes, we wanted to tell you more about the charities we support and why.
FareShare is the UK’s largest food redistribution charity, fighting hunger and food waste by redistributing good food that would otherwise go to waste to frontline charities and community groups that support vulnerable people – including homeless hostels, children’s breakfast clubs and lunch clubs for older people.
Without their current supply of FareShare food 1 in 5 charities would close down. Together with FareShare, we want to make sure that doesn’t happen. We’ll be redistributing food with FareShare’s army of volunteers, to charities across the East Midlands and beyond.
GroceryAid has been looking after those in the grocery industry for 160 years. First founded in 1857 as the National Grocers' Benevolent Fund (NGBF), today thousands of people in the industry, including independent retailers, supermarket employees, production line workers, wholesalers and delivery drivers turn to GroceryAid for financial support and practical assistance.
Weetabix’s long term support for the industry charity will continue, as we focus on creating a great environment to work not just for our own colleagues, but others in the industry too.
Find out more about both charities on our Charities page.
Looking for sponsorship or support for your charity?
At Weetabix we know there are lots of people and charities that are on amazing journeys. Unfortunately we can’t support them all. To make sure we can make a real difference to our official charity partners, we’re focusing on raising funds and donating product to FareShare and Grocery Aid.
As you can imagine we get hundreds of enquiries every month asking for support for different charities, events and local causes. Unfortunately we don’t have time to respond to them all, so we urge you to keep up the great work. And if you’re a small charity and want to know more about how you could work with FareShare, visit their website
